Code of Ethics
It is just as important to us that our denim is produced ethically as it is sustainably. Our factory in Sri Lanka is regularly audited by third parties to uphold strict ethical and safe practices for all workers.
At Porter Blue, we have a list of zero tolerance practices for our manufacturer that anyone can inquire about. We are proud to produce our denim at our chosen factory. Here are some
reasons why:
PRISTINE PRODUCTION SPACE
Our factory, based in Sri Lanka, has a best in class production floor. The factory is well
ventilated. It is a well lit, pristine, open space. Water stations and bathrooms are also easily
accessible and close by for factory workers. Work stations and floors are kept clean and swept regularly.
SAFETY GEAR
Our factory workers are provided with every safety precaution needed to protect their health
and wellbeing. Steel gloves are provided when cutting out patterns, protective eye gear is
provided for laser treatments, and etc.
FREE MEALS, TRANSIT AND LODGING
Our factory provides free meals to all workers. It also provides free transportation to workers
who live outside the surrounding areas and are in need of transportation. Some workers live in more remote areas of Sri Lanka and are given the option of free lodging by the factory to sleep on days they have work vs making a long commute every day.
TRAINING INCENTIVE PROGRAMS
Our factory provides several incentive programs that allow workers to gain new skills to move
through and up different parts of the factory.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
Our manufacturer provides training and career opportunities for disabled workers, that would otherwise not be able to find safe work. After decades of traveling to factories overseas, we were thoroughly impressed by our Sri Lankan factory’s dedication to providing inclusive work opportunities.
ADDED COVID HEALTH MEASURES
During the ongoing COVID health challenges, our factory has implemented many precautions
and social distancing to keep its factory workers healthy and thriving.
SMETA CERTIFIED
Our factory is SMETA certified. The Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit is one of the most
widely used ethical audit formats in the world. It allows businesses to assess their sites and
supplies to understand working conditions within their supply chain.
WRAP CERTIFIED
Our factory is also WRAP certified. The Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production
certification is recognized globally as proof of social compliance in the apparel industry. Read
